Dr. Marisa V. Byles is a licensed psychologist who earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida State University and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She has experience working in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential levels of care for eating disorders. Additionally, Dr. Byles has experience in a variety of other clinical settings, including community mental health, college counseling, and a military hospital. She is passionate about promoting awareness of eating disorders and mental health in general. While working at the University of North Florida Counseling Center, she served as the Outreach Coordinator and later the Eating Disorders Treatment Team Coordinator. Through these roles, she organized numerous outreach events on the University of North Florida campus, developed eating disorder intake procedures and a scope of service protocol in accordance with American Psychological Association standards, arranged continuing education trainings for Counseling Center staff, and created an on-campus eating disorders support group.
Dr. Byles enjoys working with individuals throughout the lifespan, from pre-adolescents to older adults. She utilizes evidenced-based treatments, primarily Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). While Dr. Byles specializes in eating disorder and body-image concerns, she has extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, relationship and interpersonal problems, and adjustment disorders. She also has a private practice where she treats individuals with eating disorders at an outpatient level of care. In her free time, Dr. Byles enjoys long walks on the beach with her dog and spending time with her family.
